Grid View Options

You have several options in the way you List View or Grid View can be used or shown. These can turned on or off for each Software Object.

Grid View Editing

Normally, your list view will be read only. When a user wants to edit the record, they will have to double click the record to open up the detail view. You can also enable record editing by clicking the Grid Is Editable option. The user will be able to edit the records without opening up the detail windows. Click on any column, make your changes and tab off to save.

New Item Row

In order to create a new record, you would normally have to click the New button to bring up a new detail view. By selecting the New Item Row box, you can allow your users to create new records within the grid view itself.

Show List and Detail

You can set up your Software Object to display both List View and Detail View side by side. When a record is clicked, the details will be shown on the left of the grid.

Show Children in Grid

This option has to do with relations between your Software Objects. In the example shown, there is a relationship between the Company Software Object and the Contact Software Object. A company can relate to many Contacts. By selecting the Show Children in Grid option, you will be able to see what Contact records are associated with the selected Company record.
